Minimo 0.2 hits the market

Millions of users depend on a Mozilla browser for reaching web sites. Now,
users of Windows Mobile wireless devices can take advantage of the latest
version of Mozilla for mobile--Minimo 0.2 has been released. The Minimo project,
while not controlled by Mozilla, is hosted on Mozilla.org. The Minimo browser
was one of the early third-party mobile browsers, though other projects have
received more attention from the press and users in recent months. Now, project
members question whether financial support from companies like Nokia will
continue in the face of competition from projects like the <A

mobile browser. Fans of choice are hoping for more competition and more
options for mobile browsing in the future.

Small devices make big security holes

Just because your mobile device uses a different operating system than your database server doesn't mean that malware and attacks can't move from your handheld to your server. As the number of highly mobile devices has grown, the attacks through those devices have kept pace. Software protection suites for smart phones, PDAs and other mobile wireless devices are now available and should be deployed on every corporate device. File encryption (for every file on the device) and user training for safe use and physical security are additional measures that should be a part of the total corporate security plan.

For more on protecting your wireless devices:
- read the article at ComputerWorld

A worthwhile blog to bookmark

There's likely about a million blogs out there covering the latest and greatest in wireless technology, device updates and the evolution of standards--Fierce happens to read a few of them. But not all prove valuable as many aren't updated consistently or offer expert insight. But that's not true of ITToolbox wireless blogs and that's why they're a valuable resource for the wireless staff deploying new networks and technology, while trying to stay up on the constant changes taking place. Check out the Wireless Device Dimension blog that includes views and discussions of mobile wireless devices and applications. The Beyond The Enterprise blog will help you stay aware of new innovations in wireless application development. Blog
